The DragonA Poem by LizTurned into something completely different than I expected...No one knows just why she cries, A knot in her stomach tightens and ties, The wings of an angel soar and she flies, The girl is certain this is how she survives, No help from others but ways to cause pain, Sit back, relax, to watch her energy drain, Life as she knows it is a never-ending game, Her enemy The Dragon just waiting to be slain, A pound on the door, a creak in the floor, In darkness she sits, the light is no more, Gunshots, bleeding, and yelling galore, Outward she peaks through the crack in the door, Familiar scene of a dislocated shoulder, A daughters eyes growing older and older, When will it be over? Please let Daddy be sober No one knows just why she cries, A knot in her stomach tightens and ties, Footsteps come closer, she hurries and hides, Tonight is the night, she crumbles and dies © 2012 LizReviews
