Paint Me A StoryA Story by Liz
I like to write. Correction - I love to write. But it’s most likely not in the same way that the average person enjoys to write. I am mesmerized by putting a pencil or a pen to paper and watching the letters form to words; the words form to sentences; the sentences to stories. Everybody has that favorite writing tool. The one that fits most comfortably between their fingertips. The one that flows most smoothly across their canvas. Writing is just like painting, actually. After all, what really is the difference between pictures and words? There’s always a story. There’s always a thought begging to get out and tell the world where it came from. We couldn’t express those thoughts without our favorite tools, whether it be a paintbrush or a pencil. Maybe it’s the one that makes your handwriting just the way you like it; not perfect, but the way it should be. Nobody finds perfect handwriting interesting. The sloppiness behind a writer's scribbles tells you something about them. It tells you that maybe they were or are a little crazy. Maybe the writing is sloppy because they were angry, or in a hurry, or crying, or so anxious to share their thoughts that they did not want to slow down. There are so many “maybe’s” an “could be’s” and “what if’s” behind handwriting; for words on a page are never just words on a page. Within them lies so much more. © 2013 LizReviews
