Joining the Darkness

Joining the Darkness

A Poem by Liz
"

I'm not yet satisfied with this one. Alterations are sure to come.

"

With each step the darkness crept closer

And every breath I took my heart was beating faster

I knew that I should have been afraid, fear should have been my first reaction

But I was intrigued.

The wind began to howl louder and wilder

And the blackened clouds above me started to weep

Yet I didn’t find myself slowing, if anything I was picking up my pace

My curiosity empowered everything else.

Though the government tried to deny the existence

I was too determined for them to brain wash me, like the others

How could it not be true, when any other being that ventured this far into the forest didn’t return?

Somehow I knew I would be different.

I was now at the entrance of a cave

And as I had become sopping wet, I decided to tuck inside

The climate quickly changed, a large stone fell into the hole of which I had entered

That’s when I saw him.

He was built tall and solid

I found myself almost attracted to his strength and power

In this moment I knew what needed to be done, I knew what I wanted to become

“I’d like to join you,” I said.
