Nervously awaiting the arrival of my bride, knees trembling, eyes watering, best man by my side.

She arrives, her father departs, rings exchanged, love confirmed.

Our life begins, Jonny, then Alex.

22 years later, a house in darkness, a Dear John note, a solicitor’s letter.

Knees trembling, eyes watering, my best man by my side.

Some times your first friend in life is your best friend in life.

Within the confines of the 55 words, you have well displayed an ability to convey a great deal of information. The structure is strong, the storytelling succinct.
There is an emotional maturity in the words chosen, it reads as if written from personal experience, and though describing tragic circumstances still celebrates a relationship.
