Where Does Zack Greinke sign?A Story by Living FishboneLos Angles Dodgers starting pitcher Zack Greinke just opted out of a huge deal. Where to now?
Dodgers starting pitcher Zack Greinke opted out of a huge deal. Will he sign back for a little extra money after a fantastic season? Maybe, maybe not. But the Dodgers are not the right team for Greinke, they're too immature. He's an ace and he wants to lead a staff. How the hell are you supposed to do that with the the best pitcher in Clayton Kershaw on your staff. But he also wants to be on a winning team. Let's take a look at three teams, not including the Dodgers, that would work.
BALTIMORE ORIOLES The Os had an off season last year, but they have talent. Machado, Jones, Crush and Wieters, if the last two re-sign. Buck Showalter is one hell of a manager. Wieters can be a top five catcher if he stays healthy. Matt's back-up, Caleb Joesph is solid. They've proved they can win before, and be a contender. But they have no starters, so Greinke is instantly an ace. The only downside is if Wieters and/or Davis leaves, Greinke isn't starting SAN FRANSISCO GIANTS MadBum is overrated. He's a two-three pitcher in the ace role. They need an ace. Greinke's an ace. Then, look at the offense. Matt Duffy, Brandon Belt, Joe Panik, Brandon Crawford, Hunter Pence, Aoki, and Buster Posey. Plus, Posey is a solid defender. The only worry is SanFran is where pitchers go to die. TEXAS RANGERS Rangers already have Yovani Gallardo, Derek Holland, Cole Hamels, and maybe Yu Darvish. Z.G. would still lead that team. Then, an offense led by Beltre, Fielder, and Andrus? That's a powerhouse team © 2015 Living Fishbone |
