Not Ready to Say Goodbye

Not Ready to Say Goodbye

A Poem by LivingDeath

Death

"
Named after a fictional character
a gangster from a book my had grandpa read,
'Mooky' -tough, smart, strong, brave..
Everything  that you are.

But your life hasn't been like a book
there is no happy ending here.

I was four when you were born
when you became my closest friend,
the one who would always stay by my side
and never turn your back..
Even now fourteen years later
I still call you my best friend,
my sister.

You always have my back wherever I go
watching me from the driveway when I left for school
being there when I got back.

When ever I walk outside
you're always there by my side,
to keep me company,
to watch over me,
to always make sure I'm safe.

You know me better than I know myself.

Fourteen years together
fourteen years to bond,
fourteen years forever
but in two more days you're gone.

Why do you have to go
why do you have to leave
why please why,
just please tell me why..
Why do you have to die.

I can't let you go
I can't turn my back..
You mean everything to me..

You're the only friend that has never left
the one thats struggled through,
you knew me far before I knew myself
and now you have to go.

Why do I cry when I know that it's life
when I know it's for the best;
you're blind, you're hurt, you can barely walk
but still you never leave.

You struggled through the cold dark nights
even though we thought you wouldn't,
and you keep on fighting though we know
you cannot fight forever.

But still you fight to live the night
to see us wake next day,
to make sure nothing bad will come
you've gave your life for us.

Named after a fictional character
you touched all of our lives,
thank you for your life well lived
I love you now good bye.

Please don't tell me this writing doesnt flow, or if I had any grammar errors. I don't care. This dog has been my life. When I was born so was it, we grew up together and made a bond stronger then families have. We have to put it down on monday because it can barely even walk anymore.. I just had to write to get it off my chest regardless how good it was. I'm not ready for her to die..

This was such a deep and touching poem. I completely understand. Dogs become more than pets they become such a big part of our lifes. I loved this poem. It's so beautiful. Well done. I hope you'll be alright.

I so relate the pain as I too have had to take these steps alone after my rotweiller cross alsation became ill but he is with me every day in my heart and in my memories because why when he never left my side in life would he think to do it know. Excellent piece of heart felt poetry, keep em' coming

Our animals are important to us. Like you said in your words. Our pets will always keep us company and be content to be with us. I'm sorry for your sick dog. Sometime they can get better. Animals are strong and have big hearts.

This touched my soul. Love in its truest forms overcomes boundaries... A love between a man a dog is so loyal that it cannot be replaced/ forgotten but cherished for its existence. Thank you for sharing this..pain due to the death of a loved one cannot be ever fully expressed but I can feel it in your words.

This is a beautiful, yet sad write...
I like it a lot...
It's hard to leave behind the one you love, in this case it's a dag... A dog you love with all of your heart..
Keep up the good work and thanks you the RR..
