Not Ready to Say Goodbye

Not Ready to Say Goodbye

A Poem by LivingDeath

Death

"
Named after a fictional character
a gangster from a book my had grandpa read,
'Mooky' -tough, smart, strong, brave..
Everything  that you are.

But your life hasn't been like a book
there is no happy ending here.

I was four when you were born
when you became my closest friend,
the one who would always stay by my side
and never turn your back..
Even now fourteen years later
I still call you my best friend,
my sister.

You always have my back wherever I go
watching me from the driveway when I left for school
being there when I got back.

When ever I walk outside
you're always there by my side,
to keep me company,
to watch over me,
to always make sure I'm safe.

You know me better than I know myself.

Fourteen years together
fourteen years to bond,
fourteen years forever
but in two more days you're gone.

Why do you have to go
why do you have to leave
why please why,
just please tell me why..
Why do you have to die.

I can't let you go
I can't turn my back..
You mean everything to me..

You're the only friend that has never left
the one thats struggled through,
you knew me far before I knew myself
and now you have to go.

Why do I cry when I know that it's life
when I know it's for the best;
you're blind, you're hurt, you can barely walk
but still you never leave.

You struggled through the cold dark nights
even though we thought you wouldn't,
and you keep on fighting though we know
you cannot fight forever.

But still you fight to live the night
to see us wake next day,
to make sure nothing bad will come
you've gave your life for us.

Named after a fictional character
you touched all of our lives,
thank you for your life well lived
I love you now good bye.

Please don't tell me this writing doesnt flow, or if I had any grammar errors. I don't care. This dog has been my life. When I was born so was it, we grew up together and made a bond stronger then families have. We have to put it down on monday because it can barely even walk anymore.. I just had to write to get it off my chest regardless how good it was. I'm not ready for her to die..

It's never easy to say good-bye to someone, especially not family. The strong emotion behind this truly shows that a dog is a man's best friend, a part of the family.

Letting go of someone who has always been there is tough, but knowing that the impact they had on your life was strong is a comfort, for they will always be part of you. It is good to release your emotions. Beautiful write.

Personally, I thought the poem flowed well. I didn't really pay attention to the grammar errors because the emotion behind it was so strong. I could definitely relate to this. I think we all have had a friend of some sort (animal, imaginary friend, etc.) who we have had to let go. And to have a bond of 14 years like this one, only to have it broken in the end has to be tough for anyone. Such a sad, moving poem this was!

I got a puppy for my birthday last year and I swore I'd love her forever, but she was too beautiful for this rotten earth... she didn't belong here... she didn't deserve to be confined behind the prison walls of our poisoned atmosphere... she wasn't even a year old yet, and she was killed. Murdered in my absence by some stupid driver. I loved her with all of my heart, but even she was too beautiful and pure for me. I believe your dog was the same way. Our best friends from day one until day end. In honor of my puppy and her memory, I wear her tags on my choker necklace. :) great poem! 100/100

I know this well. Having done the same and now looking at my current dog, (she was older when we got her) I know I will be doing it again in a few more years. My herat goes out to you. Yes pets are like family. They live on in our memories.

One can really feel the pain in your poem... it is difficult when you have to say goodbye to a loved one. I really hope she gets better. And that you stay strong.

Just last week my cat "Oliver" died, I'm still in pieces.
I understand why you wouldn't want people to criticize this write.
This is a good write though, you didn't forget the feeling as many do.
Great Job, and sympathy
