Is Love A Lie?

Is Love A Lie?

A Poem by LivingDeath

I felt your lips
upon my neck
and felt your warm embrace.

I thought if love
was really there
or if it was all a lie.

For it wouldn't be the first time
you played me on like this,
but it wouldn't be the last time
that I'd fall for it.

Very interesting look at love, and the lies that can so often undermine the trust vital for it to live and last. Your last lines hold such a powerful, emotional grip.

Universal theme, but done nicely. Not just another sappy love poem:)

Good write. Confusing love the physical action with love the emotion. some times related, some times not.

Oh.. sad but red flags do pop out really fast! I applaud your flow and depth.. your first stanza says it all.. love is not just physical.. it's emotional, actions and intentions too. How a lover treats you after this is what matters.. you can sense your love but you sound fooled possibly (After all I can't speak for the other party can I)

All that you paint is wonderful.. but if it leaves you again and again in pain.. is it love and is it worth it? I've been here.. alot have.. love is long term.. it's also commitments and sacrifice. Really only you can decide what love is to you.. and what you want out of it .. great honesty .. really!

this is a really nice piece. i really like how much reality you put in it and the amount of thought it puts into the readers brain. i, personally, thing that love both is and isnt a lie. some love is pure and true, when at times its hateful, hurtful, dreadful, but its always powerful none the less

I liked this writing. It made me think about love and how my life has been blinded by love. Thanks for sharing. :)

Love can be as treacherous as it is truthful. Unfortunately you do not have to sign a legal document about its honesty each time! Well expressed, an emotion many have not verbalised!

I like the honest words in this poem. I went back to one woman three times. Took me going to California from Michigan to escape my foolishness. Poem is beautiful. Your story made me smile. Thank you. A outstanding poem.
