Whiskey Nights

Whiskey Nights

A Poem by LivingDeath

I shoot the whiskey back
to dull the pains I get,
one shot to remember
another to forget.

Another bottle empty
another tear hits ground,
when I think I see you here
it only lets me down.

Memories are all I have
from all those months ago,
my feelings are my own
ones I'm not afraid to show.

I call your name each night
though I know you can't hear me,
still I sing the songs I wrote
and let myself cry free.

I shoot the whiskey back
to dull the pains I get,
One shot to remember
another to forget.

I love the very strong message in this poem. I love that I can just feel the strong and complex emotions in this as well. Very well done.

I agree with Bette.. your ending really grabbed attention with the rhythm and rhyme.. very lyrical and catchy. Kind of reminded me of "there's a tear in my beer cause I'm crying for ya dear".. having high melancholy. There's alot of sadness in these lines.. very well-written for the emotional content. Great creative work!
