Whiskey Nights

Whiskey Nights

A Poem by LivingDeath

I shoot the whiskey back
to dull the pains I get,
one shot to remember
another to forget.

Another bottle empty
another tear hits ground,
when I think I see you here
it only lets me down.

Memories are all I have
from all those months ago,
my feelings are my own
ones I'm not afraid to show.

I call your name each night
though I know you can't hear me,
still I sing the songs I wrote
and let myself cry free.

I shoot the whiskey back
to dull the pains I get,
One shot to remember
another to forget.

I have try the damn whiskey. Didn't work. A excellent poem. You have described very well the effect of the whiskey in a life. A outstanding poem.

A very moving piece that many people can relate to. So sad, but wonderfully worded. Reminds me of Homer Simpson, "Alcohol, the cause of and solution to all of life's problems!" Seriously, I hope that you can get passed the heartbreak and no longer feel the need to drown your sorrows....It is no way to live.

no solutions to be found in a shot glass. Time to start anew.

Amazing. You make a broken heart seem beautiful although I know its one of the worst things a person can ever feel. Wonderful job, you're so talented.

This is a good one :) I like how your poems can always be somewhat pictured with a deeper message, or create some kind of imagery in mind. This is very powerful yet simple and that's why i liked it
