Whiskey Nights

Whiskey Nights

A Poem by LivingDeath

I shoot the whiskey back
to dull the pains I get,
one shot to remember
another to forget.

Another bottle empty
another tear hits ground,
when I think I see you here
it only lets me down.

Memories are all I have
from all those months ago,
my feelings are my own
ones I'm not afraid to show.

I call your name each night
though I know you can't hear me,
still I sing the songs I wrote
and let myself cry free.

I shoot the whiskey back
to dull the pains I get,
One shot to remember
another to forget.

BRILLIANT!!! So powerful and it speaks to me.

Not bad. The flow didn't really capture me and felt awkward sometimes. I honestly didn't feel anything from reading it but I know we've all had too much to drink in order to quench our sorrows. Good poem.

I drink to ease pain too. I love this piece.

I really love this write.
It's flawless and brought a tear to my tired eye.
Whiskey is my favorite drink and I'm actually striving to quit drinking completely.
"I shoot the whiskey back
to dull the pains I get,
one shot to remember
another to forget."
It's just so damn catchy and beautiful.
I really love this.
It's going straight to my favorites.

Oh, I think most of us have been right at this point. I love the flow and the flawless rhyming. Excellent work. Glad someone sent me over here. :)

It's a well written, very descriptive and strong piece. "One shot to remember/ another to forget" are great lines. Having said that, I sure hope this isn't autobiographical, 'cause downing a lot of whiskey never fixed anything... and even if it does what you want it to do for the time being, you feel like crud again in the morning. But you did a great job with conveying your emotions in well written form.

I have done this before and all I got out of it was more pain from remember him more. This is a great outspoken poem about a private issue that many of us have done to try to help. Unfortunately you can't run from your own mind or drown it out and you can't hide from your feelings. Time like this aren't they grand (sarcastic) Love the imagery of this poem and the flow is very smooth like the whiskey you are throwing back. Great job.
