Walk For You

Walk For You

A Poem by LivingDeath
"

I walked across the entire city, from end to end, just to see her face.

"

I walked across this snow swept city

to see your perfect face,

I walked right through the freezing air

to feel your warm embrace...

I walked right through the empty night

under the moons' soft glow,

I walked until I saw you there

sheltered from all the snow.

You saw me stand there all alone

your eyes defied the stars,

time stood still as our hearts beat on

that moment forever ours.

You took me in your warm embrace

and gave me love's sweet kiss,

you took away the pain I felt

it's you I've always missed.

Then the moon struck high

and the door was locked,

we said goodbyes

and then I walked.

Author's Note

LivingDeath
I intentionally made the ending seem rushed/ abrupt to symbolize that a moment so perfect, so surreal, can be over before you know it. So cherish the moments that you get so you can look back on these moments and be able to feel how you were feeling then. Moments come and go in a heart beat, memories will last forever.

I completely understand. Love the moments that seem so little to others, but to you they're the most amazing and beautiful moments there are. I loved this poem. It was very sweet. Well done=)

This is a really sweet poem and definitely shows how just being around someone that you love can make all the difference.
"you took away the pain I felt
it's you I've always missed."
I love those two lines, because to me, they summerize what the entire poem is about. I don't think you need to explain the ending. It feels rushed, yes, but then again, if the reader takes in all that is happeneing, it makes sense. It's late at night, it's snowing. No one wants to stay outside that long, except your speaker, and your speaker shows no regret.
This was a good write. I really enjoyed it.

You are correct. The sweet and gentle moment stay with us. First Kiss. Talking and holding someone till the morning light when love was kind and simple. We overtake the good things with greed and wanting more. Life should be pleasure. Slow and easy. Poem is outstanding. A sweet and beautiful poem.

This is beautiful, and the way you worded the last stanza really does bring out how we need to cherish each moment.

Wow, I agree with what you said in your authors notes. I was actually very impressed with the final stanza before I'd read that bit. The body of this piece flowed on so perfectly, so rhythmically like the beating of a heart- until the moment ended and the heart skipped a beat.
Amazing~
