The Final Day

The Final Day

A Poem by LivingDeath
"

A follow up to my suicide note. (My 100th write)

"

Booze, weed and razors

the basis of my life,

hoping to end it all

with one last final strife.

The day has finally come

to say my last goodbye,

no more smiles that I can fake

for broken wings can't fly.

This is the last poem

that I will ever write,

for I wont live long enough

to see the morning light.

I'm sorry for the grief I caused

I'm sorry for the pain,

I'm sorry for the way I am

I know I'm a worthless shame.

Thankyou to all my friends

who stood by my aching side,

who tried to make me smile

along this bumpy ride.

But the day has finally come

to say my last goodbye,

no more smiles that I can fake

for broken wings they cannot fly.

I wont tell you you need help as this is a great poem without it! Having recently been involved in a friends suicide the way you captured the total self-centeredness and self absorbtion of the suicide rings true.

Only thing that did not work for me was the rhyme on the first stanza - "one last final strife" sacrifices (in my view I stress) the poetic to the need to find a rhyme for "life"
