The Last Goodbye

The Last Goodbye

A Poem by LivingDeath

So much for a happy ending

that was for you and I,

no more sweet hello's

you've said your last goodbye.

Your words came out so soft

but hit me oh so hard,

they swept me off my feet

you caught me without guard.

I stare here at this lifeless phone

wanting to hear your voice,

no matter how much I think

I can't comprehend your choice.

You're making a mistake

I thought we were meant to be,

I can still see you in my dreams

but I know you can't see me.

Every time I see your face

a tear streams down my cheek,

like a pipe that can't be fixed

always will it leak.

I thought we said forever

who knew it would end so soon,

with a hole in my heart

you've left a bleeding wound.

I lay down in my barren bed

and see you laying here,

I blink my red and weary eyes

and then you disappear.

Just like that you walk away

you leave me all alone,

now I wallow in this place

this broken place called home.

You've spoke your last goodbye

and crippled a bleeding heart,

you walked away just like that

and left a painful mark.

So much for a happy ending

that was for you and I,

no more sweet hello's

you've said your last goodbye.

Goodbyes can be so sad.. but I am learning that a final goodbye is sometimes necessary and can bring closure for two hearts so that new life can spring forth. Your writing hits emotions that everyone has felt at some point in life.. through loss of various degrees.. here you have a dramatic soft spoken final goodbye that hit to the core.. these are sometimes the hardest to part from. Very well portrayed with hard hitting rhythm, rhyme and flow that pierces in a very haunting way. Great writing!

Wow this is heartbreaking to say the very least. I could feel your pain and emotions in every word. Goodbyes are probably one of the worst things you have to go through in life. However with every good bye comes a new hello. You meet new people and just when you think you could never love a person as much as the last you do and usually more. But in the mean time you have to cope with the pain which of course sucks.

A powerful poem. The goodbyes leave us unhappy. I can feel the disappointment and sadness in the words. Description and story was very good. A excellent poem.
