Let Me Be Me

Let Me Be Me

A Poem by LivingDeath
"

My math teacher has given up on me and doesnt care what i do in her class anymore but she says i cant talk to anyone and no one can talk to me, in other words i cant have fun.. I cant be me.

"

I cannot speak

I cannot smile

I cannot laugh

down this lonesome mile.

I'm left here by myself

I'm left here on my own

with everyone around

I'm secluded and all alone.

No one to talk to

no one that I can be

with everyone around

my words cannot be free.

Why can't I be myself

talkative and free

with the friends that I still have

why can't I be the me I wish to be.

Ah! Your maths teacher is so pathetic! I mean this is not a way to handle students.
Anyways, the poem...it was short and simple but inspite of that was very striking.
You not only described the scenario of your math class in it but also showed what this life is all about.
The metaphor of this piece is absolutely brilliant. Sometimes, in live we have to pretend of being someone whom we are not, sometimes we can't be "US" even though we want to...sometimes, we have to follow hypocrisy and I can't say it is right or wrong..It is just the way it is.
Great work!

Your math teacher deserves to be drop kicked! I hate teachers who give up on their students.

This is a sad poem. It feels very lonely. "Why can't I be the me I wish to be." unfortunately this is a question that a person constantly asks throughout their life. I hope that things can be resolved in your math class.

I've had quite a few of those teachers especially since I was the girl that couldn't keep quiet for more then five minutes. This poem captures that feeling perfectly. You feel trapped within yourself with no where to turn. Nice job and if you can't talk then you might as well write. Even in college I get some of my best writing done when I am in a boring class. (Not the best advice, but it's honest).

I love how you transformed what happened to you into this wonderful poem, because I think it described it very very well. It kinda makes you sad and mad at that math teacher! ;) great job with the poem though.
