I pray for you

I pray for you

A Poem by A. Pike

I have not found closure yet,
My wound is still watery and red.
I grieve for what was lost
Though I’ll never be convinced the romance is dead.
But I have found this, a new way to pray.
May it help us both, if not now then someday.

I pray for you.

That you have health insurance, and may always see a doctor
That your graduate exams have an honest and well-hearted proctor
That the gas tank in your car never falls past half-full
That your business presentation be given to an large audience, an entire room full.
That your head gasket and engine work for miles to come
That you never miss the best bite of
pie by dropping even a crumb
That the laces of your shoes never fray, and make you trip because they would not stay tied
That the button on your pants is comfortable and roomy and does not leave a red mark on your side
That your buzzer is fully charged and your shaving cream new
And that you do not think of me
As I so often think of you.
