Once Upon a DecemberA Poem by A. PikeJust something I wrote while not in the best mood one day at school. A passive rant if you will."Dancing bears, painted wings" Royalty are the best liars of all. If every girl is born a princess, where is her crown? The bears cannot dance, The wings are fake- My world is shaking, Please I beg you to not crumble. "Things I almost remember" Treat him right they say. Be patient, be kind, be good, Is that finally all I have to do? Hold him if he's sad, Love him when he's angry But most of all be happy when he is happy; You may not see it again. "And a song someone sings" Shaking at your touch; not fear, not pain A cold that leaks through my bones. My heart pumps crystals, Parasites in my veins, At least when hell freezes over, I am thankful to be numb. "Once upon a December" I'm now good at hiding,At lying like a pro. But I lost myself to pay the price, In a deal with the devil I gave up my face And adopted this mask as reality. Lace masks, black facades, The tales of extravagance carry A sense of betrayal. Some masquerades are more than just a dance; The mask may not come off at the end of the night. © 2016 A. PikeAuthor's Note
