Consequences Of Imitating

Consequences Of Imitating

A Poem by Monique Jackson
"

Living The Street Life..The Street Can Never Be Family.

"

Trying to duplicate

The next man's ghetto escape

Realize your life ain't that complicated

You just perpetrate another man's senseless tirade

Giving rationalization for your continuous rampage

So, caught up in being the justice system's future cellmate

Interesting, you're a thug who never lived in the ghetto one day

Yet life is your enemy and it's not you but the world you blame

Someday, one day, you have to grow up and see what you created

A life of crime just to impress a bunch people who ain't even related

Loving the streets will only get you laid out in red permanently sedated

Although that's just the consequences of living a wreck less life of imitating

Just to prove yourself harder than the next dude you find excuses for retaliating

Providing stories of twisted words but we don't believe a word that you're saying

After all you're just another criminal of the streets so it appears we have no relation

Be careful of words said in a robust of anger those same words have a way re-articulating

Water is thicker than blood anyway, so let water watch the blood you get yourself slain in

You're not a victim of anything but this imaginary hard knock world you keep portraying

You own your own destiny

Recognize we don't owe you anything

Stop bringing us into your world of insanity

It's bad when the only way you can be hard is by lying

Acting hard out there but when you get home defeat has you crying

You didn't have to do anything but be a man and take care of your responsibility

But you living life in the reality of your own conjured up fantasy of thug life mentality

Enjoy your water made family cause when life catches up remember blood ain't family!
