Just one more

Just one more

A Poem by Lauren..

It could be hard to tell what kind of liquid is in your cup,

Kids don’t know why they can’t have grown up drinks when the clock strikes midnight,

You can’t find happiness in a drink,

The house is crazy and you just need to get out of the house,

You don’t have a destination in mind,

Christmas lights are like speak easys drawing people in,

People are checking your information at the door,

Lying about your age is a crime,

But some people don’t care about drinking,

The drink is your friend,

It is like setting up the tv to play the same episode over and over again,

More and more times you go to the bar growing your addiction to it,

You won’t remember what happened in the morning,

A hangover is nothing to write home about,

Life is about making hard choices don’t make the wrong one because you can’t take it back later.

You wrote this piece Lauren!
No one starts out wanting to be an alcoholic…
It happens gradually.
Then it becomes a habit, and takes over the reins of that person’s life…
becomes a confidante, takes the place of a spouse, becomes your counselor.
Then like a traitor it starts causing you embarrassment…
Until you are brave enough to accept your weakness, ask for help and sign up for an AA meeting.
It takes discipline to kick this tenant who has become a landlord to the sidewalk.

Thought provoking piece.
