That Smile Didn't Reach her EyesA Poem by Daliah ValleyFrizzy brown hair and black striped vests. knee high socks and smiles to share.
She lends her jacket and shares her lunch. She cheers you up and but her eyes lack it.
Nobody knows that she is burning inside. Her feelings are black and she cries to her cat.
She won't leave her room and draws her problems away. She still is hollow, though, and plans on going soon.
She leaves a letter, stained with tears. Scratched in haste, and sealed with fire.
They clean up her room, full of happy things, full of lies. Her room is bare soon.
Nobody knows why she left. Nobody understands. She was so happy, she never wept.
Not in public, anyway. She always had that smile that didn't reach her eyes. © 2012 Daliah Valley |
