Colorblind Glasses

Colorblind Glasses

A Poem by Audrey j
"

It’s about me being a different color than others but I’m the only one who can see it. In this situation I don’t know if being different is a good thing.

"
My life is blending in with the trees
I’m bleeding all over but you don’t look like you see
The whole world is colorblind
I’m the color you can’t see
Sometimes my cheeks are red but all you see is green
A tear rolls down my face but it blends in with my skin
You don’t seem to notice until it runs off my chin
I wish you had my glasses so you can see what’s in my head
Why can’t I look at the trees beside me without the hint of red
If you really cared you would take my glasses off and have a look through
How come my only hope is that I get help from you
You are like wind you blow right past
Was looking from my perspective that hard of a task
I guess I was colorblind to the fact that you didn’t care
Is invisible all I am
Why can’t you see the blood running from my hands
I guess my brain is all green
Can you not see the red fire roaming free
Am I the only one wishing this passes
And I’m only one looking through my colorblind glasses

Becuz of your title, I came to this with a wrong expectation . . . I love it when a writer does something unexpected. I love the way you use red & green to denote the two sides of seeing. This narrator seems to be disappointed that someone (or others) do not see what he/she wishes to be seen. Yet, this narrator also seems to realize, on some level, that this is just not a realistic expectation, becuz others just don't see unless we show them. Maybe this is a two-way problem, that others don't see, but the narrator is also not able to reveal. Another thing I love is a poem that has many layers like yours does. Sounds like you feel left out and unnoticed by someone special, you like or people you thought where friend but treat you like outside. And its make you feel frustrated angry and sad. Are you shy? And maybe distancing yourself from them also. Many layers in this poem. with the green of the trees and your glasses. Double means here.

I’m shy in certain aspects.
It's so disappointing if you aren't noticed. When you feel that people can't see you, that they are totally oblivious to your existence it does little for your confidence. You convey these feelings well in your poem which is nicely written. All good wishes.

Your words, honest and direct. The reader could feel the thoughts and vision the words written.
"Am I the only one wishing this passes
And I’m only one looking through my colorblind glasses "
I liked the closing lines. Colorblind glasses, great words used. Thank you Audrey for sharing the amazing poetry.
