Coffee Eyes

Coffee Eyes

A Poem by Karina Longo
"

Inspired on someone's eyes. They're brown, so full of life, vivid, ambicious and strangely wide open. The eyes of a good freak. :)

"
Searching for feelings, not for answers
Everything is clearer than the heavy air we breathe
If you want to go beyond love and hate -
Well, slowly we'll decay but we should give a try
Even if it keep us awake night after night

But you’ve got these coffee eyes, so violently unquiet
You seem possessed by the need
of needing nothing but yourself to reach the highs of life
You scream words that might mean nothing
But you are heard - pressure is heard, and pleasure is heard

I don’t care if all this ain't real, I'm still here
Trying my best to be seen
Savouring new horizons and sensations
And even though nothing is real we’ll still be here
Darkness is knocking at your door,
And you’re free like a blackbird
always travelling from sea to sea

As you’ve got these coffee eyes, so violently unquiet
You seem possessed by the need of needing
nothing but to be and feel the most of life
And even if you scream in a foreigner language
There’s always someone clever enough to hear you
Pressure is heard, pleasure is heard and you're heard

When you've got such coffee eyes, so beautifully unkind
Just like a dazzling light, always awake to a world that never sleeps
Trying to feel it, to feel it, to feel it
(At least you know) pressure is heard
And pleasure is heard
(And if not, try harder)

The poem had me with the word coffee. I drink 10 cups a day. I like woman with those coffee eyes. Sort of a mystery to look into. Like the eyes of a Gypsy. Who can see into your soul.

Thank you for the excellent poem.

Hehe.. you grabbed me with the thoughts of coffee and cigarettes :) Two very sweet pleasures I find.
Lovely poem dear :) I think you really did a great job bringing this one to life.

This was beautiful. I know someone who fits this very description, and found this piece to be phenomenal. Lines like, "Everything is clearer than the heavy air we breathe," and, "So violently unquiet," are simply incredible. Evocative, song-like, and utterly a worthwhile read.

You have a nack for stating philosophical & psychological truths that appear almost daunting and uncanny in their penetrtive insight:

1. even if you scream in a foreigner language
There’s always someone clever enough to hear you

2. You seem possessed by the need of needing
nothing but to be and feel the most of life

props to you.

You proliferate a kind of pessimism, a variety of hopelessness that instead come across as brave, as cheerfuly realistic, and that's the flip of how you write. That's the psychological advantage you have over pessimists without an artistic edge.

You can always claw through the back door of hedonism and enjoy youth to the fullest, because it's your salvation from the pain. Of course with surrealism comes transcendence from ego, and that is your trump card in my humble estimation:

This was fantastic. I love poems about eyes. This was a great work, as I've come to expect from you. Your descriptions leave nothing to be desired, except maybe to meet this person you talk about.

you have such an ability to convey your feelings! Interestingly woven around the coffee eyes...one can read a great deal of meaning into those amazingly communicative orbs!

This poem made me feel so free. I floated and drifted away in the wind.
I felt so out of control, but had no fear...confident that the hands of
comfort would catch me. Stunning. This one really got to me.
