Still Breathing

Still Breathing

A Poem by Karina Longo

If you're breathless,
You can sense the scent of wanting.
When you simply breathe,
You will smell the scent of
Nothing.

When there's a screaming void
inside your soul, suffer well.
All is absence - flashes of dark waving
curtains drawing emptiness

But when there's me and you
There's that very own charming
scent of two - the things a good cliche
can tell.

When I was younger I thought
roses were the only flowers.
Now I know there's so much more
beauty around - it's barely scary to
accept it all.

Exile is the silent repulsion to
Indifference (Quite ironically, I dare to say)
We all know nothing but still
Everybody can breathe exceptionally well - until
Nothing turns to everything
And then we choose to repel
Breathing.

We must accept the things that are around us. As long as we live in this world, everything must be understood no matter how fucked up it is. For only we have one life and as long as we breathe, we must be the ones to see and awaken what's within in order to understand.

I like the inner narrative you create here. It's very easy to read but a little harder to assimilate and take in. I love the messagein this - keep writing, please!

The line :
"When there is a screaming void inside your soul, suffer well." might read better if you changed it to "a suffering well" like as in the thing you draw water out of. Up to you, of course. Still, this was an excellently crafted write. I loved it.

As I read this, I felt a closeness then a pulling away. A deep love and an extreme sense of loss. When we lose the one we love we feel we can't breathe.......wonderful poem Karina

You can tell a story. I like how you wrote this poem. It is funny how we learn life is more with each day of life.
"When I was younger I thought
roses were the only flowers.
Now I know there's so much more
beauty around - it's barely scary to
accept it all."
Thank you for the outstanding poem.
