(I Need To Be) Poetry

(I Need To Be) Poetry

A Poem by Karina Longo
"

Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart. ~William Wordsworth

"
I wanna die in the arms of life
and be reborn with the sun.
I wanna breathe light,
Feel light
And enlight it all.

I want to cure wounds -
with nothing but words.
I want to give for free
the script of my soul -
Then I'm whole.

I need to be poetry -
not only poetic.
I despise rhymes,
while I love rhymes -
Imitation is limitation
But coincidence
is such a dear shelter.

I take contradiction as a bless
While I anticipate the worst
Hoping for the best
I paint a beautiful oblivion,
a flawed miracle;
It's all inside my head.

I am the dawn and the dew -
Perfectly imperfect -
Oh, the shadow never rest.
I know sometimes silence tells
the best tales
Let me write though,
I won't say words
But let me be - words.

Let me react, let me object
Never an inbetweener,
just a painful dreamer
who tries to skip bad reality
like kids do their skipping
in the backyard.

I just want to heal - and be real
I'll leave behind the rough draft of me
Recreate - reinvent - rewrite
Finally - break free -
And finally - maybe - be
An infinite piece of
poetry.

Ahh. I think this is the best poem you have written Katrina. I love it." a flawed miracle. It's all inside my head" divine. My only though would be to replace the wort enlight either to enlighten if that is what you mean, or to illuminate or something without the word light in it because you have life, light, and light already in the same stanza and it detracts from the beauty of the meaning. Way to go!

A beautiful and powerful poem. I believe when we read a Poet from the past. We bring them back to life again. Few things give us pleasure like a book or good music. I like to read to get motivated and to write to create words that may create laughter or sadness. Your complete poem is outstanding.

Oh how I can relate to this poem.. I think most poets want to be poetry.. to BE, to exist as the written or spoken word of Rhyme and Rhythm. You expressed this so well in your poem. The imagery is brilliant. The final stanza is flawlessly TRUTH. Excellent write!

I do believe that most if not all poets feel this way else would they be poets?
you have captured the yearning I feel when I write I wast what I'm writing to be as good as it can get and that is for every piece I write.
This is indeed a weel written and very vivid poem. Your message comes through clearly.
