Highways Are Hard Ways

Highways Are Hard Ways

A Poem by Karina Longo
"

Lyrics.

"
You try to belong, you just
don't know where.
The tales have been told -
but you never were there

Daydreaming of heroes
up in the sky
I can't tell anymore
what's yours and what's mine

Walking through the hills
Drink of your sweat
Crying all your tears and never looking back

Highways are hard ways -
Don't push me back now
Highways are hard ways -
No short cuts today, beware boy
Hit the easy lies away

You say that you try to move on
But you'll make no move
How to sing songs if you choose
to be mute?

Warriors and killers are different breeds
Whatever you say, you don't know what you mean
Forget all your blesses
Forget all your sins
and begin...

To walk through the hills
And drink a bit of your sweat
You can cry all the tears
but
Please put your smile back

Highways are hard ways -
And I'll walk along with you
Highways are hard ways -
But try to enjoy the view

Highways are hard ways
(But we'll keep walking)
Highways are hard ways
(And nothing can stop us)

Highways are hard ways
Highways are hard ways
Highways are...

It makes me smile that so many people said 'this poem flows like a song' perhaps it does that because it is one *looks pointedly at 'lyrics' in the comment*
I kid. Not this really does flow incredibly well. You can almost hear a melody playing in the background while reading it (perhaps it helps that the music to the song I am listening to fits fairly well).
I like the theme of the song as well. I think it's great. It's a very well written song. Excellent work!

"You say that you'll try to move on, but you'll make no move. Reflect. "Please put your smile back" so melancholy.

Good flow with the recurrent theme of the hard highways. I like poems that invoke such things as this. It's a good application.
