Breathe

Breathe

A Poem by Karina Longo

There's only one thing

That you did force me to do -

Which is to breathe

I do obey, as I know -

How pathetic it would be

Two lovers, one walking in the grass

And another - the grass you're walking in!

I escaped from my demons - locked them all

Right there, into the insignificance of

A deficient part of my brain -

Never to be unlocked again,

As certain things shall disappear though

the power of

time, love and dust -

All my fears will be far as they must

To keep me in the activity

Of creating Breathe -

Please, shall I ask you something, my dear?

Electrify me with two four letter words

And promise me to never do that one

The long one word, that we write with nine ugly letters, see -

D i s a p p e a r

The sound of it horrifies me

I'm pale enough, so don't surprise me!

At least not with bad surprises

As for me, I'll still be here, breathing love and life

If our promise is eternal,

My sunshine.

I like this because of how love can change our perception, it can heal us and make us see things differently. Yet the fear is always there what if the person vanishes who triggered this in us. Breathing seems easy but there are times when a person makes it effortless. Another wonderful write.

Uncertainty is always difficult to grasp. Love is kind of like gambling, you just never know when your going to lose or win.

Love is unpredictable... it either makes it easy to breath or make it hard to breathe... most of the time for me... Its hard, almost suffocating!
But another brilliant piece!!

The third stanza is my favorite and though we may try to do that and be successful for a while, as a poet, you already know it needs an outlet. Good work!

This seems to me more like soul searching and a
melancholy heart trusting on words to be a anchor
ones self to the point of sadness. Well written with
a twist of intangibles …nicely done...

Sometimes it's hard to breathe, when all things around you seem to go wrong. But it helps to have someone you love with you to nelp you alone! Excellent write and read!!
