A Chapter by Eala Cartwright

Shotgun Lover
Wind me up like only you can
Fire the cannon, start the marching band
Tell me backwards, from the start,
All the ways you're gonna break my heart

Bail me out of your twisted truths
Because the more you play, dear, the more you lose
Whisper harshly all the things you see
The reasons we clash so imperfectly

You'll build the fire, you'll load the gun
But wont be there when the task is done
And it took too long for me to discover
The way you tick
You're my shotgun lover

Kiss the lips that made you cry
Count the teardrops in my eyes
Write the story, back to front
Plan for scars and marks and burns

Write red letters on the wall
I crashed the car and you let me fall
Come dashing down this path before
But yet i'm running back for more

You'll build the fire, you'll load the gun
But wont be there when the task is done
And it took too long for me to discover
The way you tick
You're my shotgun lover

For the boy who taught me what toxic love looks like.
We were never going to work out and that is ok. I'm glad we laid our guns to rest.

Some love is doomed to failure. We are often attracted to the wrong people like moths to the flame.

A wonderful description of this kind of love and the after shocks when it all goes wrong.

I like the formatting and layout.

Good job!
