Queen Of Hearts

Queen Of Hearts

A Poem by Eala Cartwright

It started with a battle cry
You were there those sparkling eyes
I saw you there, and I just stared
Because it couldn't be you.

It started out with one last kiss
I let you go, but I will miss, this.

We were young and so naive
I was only just sixteen
The innocent simplicity
Of days before our wars.

But then I went and did you wrong
Before I knew it you were gone, away

And I played with soldiers
Told them I'm their Queen
And I kept on blaming
Everyone but me.
Yes I played with soldiers
Because I couldn't believe
That you were gone,
And weren't next to me.
