Lines 4A Story by LittleMancunianWant to know more about The Lines? Read on...
“Finally”
“Excuse me?” I didn't expect her to pick up the phone like that “I've been waiting for your call” “you're awake?” I try to keep the disappointed out of my voice for some reason I wanted to piss her off. “evidently” I try not to grit my teeth I can hear her smile down the phone “So my friends came to see you, how did you know it was my house?” “They told me” she replied simply “They told you where I lived?” this
shocked me, who gives out someone else address not that it's a state
secret or anything but still!
“They didn’t mean to I got them to
indirectly and how shocked was I when I found out it was 3 people
from the same house” she defended them
All of a sudden I didn't care about how she knew I just wanted to know about the lines so I asked her to tell me about them.
“ok” she agrees “but maybe we should wait until a more civilized time.”
We agree to meet in my house the next afternoon.
----***---
We're in the kitchen again. I make us some tea and sit next down.
“ready?”
I nod
“excellent this may take some time” and then she starts
“There are a few things in the world that have now become tourist attractions that are really important when it comes to leylines. They were built years ago at various points in time to warn people. Most people want to avoid them so the warning were big and spectacular something you'd remember and stay away from. The lines contain power so to stop people from being able to trace them the warning all look different and are from different ages. Are you with me so far?”
I nod again
“Stonehenge and the leaning tower of Pisa are two warning I can think of straight away although they are not as bad as the three pyramids in Giza. Three leylines so close together the warning to stay away had to be big so people could see them from a distance but with this change in the way people think they are attracted to them. Now people crawl all over the and go into them.” she voice changes and becomes harsher “they are fools did you know most people die within 20 years of going into them. Swat pouring off them as their hormones released by all the wonder that over comes them inside of them and just looking at them clashes with the power from the lines and drives them mad.” her harshness leaves as she looks and sounds wary now
“A lot commit suicide but no one has officially related it with the pyramids. The people that go in with greedy intention...” she sighs “well their lives are made hell before they die the lines amplify the greed, all the power they contain drives people mad.”
We both are silent, I'm processing what
she's taking a sip of her tea. I'm not surprised, it's hard work
telling a story.
“Are you still with me?" she asks looking at me as I think
“yes just thinking about your story”
“firstly it's not a story and secondly I'm not finished.”
She goes on to tell me that the points closeset to the suface of the Earth are the parts that are built upon. There are a few lines with run close to the surface of the Earth.
“A large line runs just below the great wall of China. The Chinese are clever and built a wall on top so no on can get the power, the idea of communism has been around in China for a long time, long before Karl Marx came around. Here in England there's Hadrian's Wall and Antonine's Wall”
That shocks me that's very close to home but she's still talking
“The Golden Gate in San Francisco but built as a safe way from crossing a massive line. The water helps disperse the power from it but that still doesn't help, just look at the number of people who commit suicide there. Basically I could go on for ever but for you know what I’m getting at right?”
“Okaaaaay” She purses her lips at my cynicism “No not really” I admit”
“Okay free masons you’ve heard of them and the illuminati?”
“What they’re real?” Now I'm interested, Layla insists the world is being controlled by the two of them
“That’s irrelevant all that matters is there is another secret group that’s so secret there’s NO mentions of them what so ever ANYWHERE you can google them to your hearts content you won’t find a peep! These people keep the laylines down and away from people as much as they can. They maintain things and have people in so many different departments across the world in all walks of life there not the filthy rich people they’re normal people. Some don’t even know their a member of the group but when people pass on things father to son mother to daughter and whatever other combination you want they pass on their heritage. Why do you think so many parents want their children to carry on the family business? You’ve heard of shanty towns?”
“Yes”
“Take the one in Cairo…. Egypt”
“Yes I know where Cairo is” I'm getting impatient now
“Have you heard of the families who live in the city of the dead?”
“Erm”
“they recycle”
“Okay”
“And they live in a grave yard”
“I bet the neighbors are quite”
I looks at me disapprovingly and asks if I think that's normal. I think back to my geography lessons before I reply “Erm well if the area’s over populated and there’s no where else to live.”
“You're being rational, an excellent quality. How about Manshiyat naser?”
“who?” I have no idea who she's talking about.
“Not who, what! Manshiyat naser also known as garbage city in Cairo. Why do you think about 1 million people live in a massive rubbish tip?”
My rationalism has gone and sarcasm seeps in “because they have no where else to go.”
“you're not getting the point so let me tell you. The point is to protect people from the power they pass on their traditions parent to child for years and years.”
So Ms Morgan is at my kitchen table telling me my house is on a line in par with the ones under the pyramids in Egypt, one of the wonders of the world. I still don't get where she's coming from
“Okay if this house is on such a powerful line thing why is it not protected?”
“Oh it is” she smiles and I feel like now we are getting somewhere
“By....?”
“You'” I can almost hear a fan fare in her voice and she practically jumps out of her seat
“Me?” Ms Morgan might be a little bit crazy I think as I stare at her
“Yes, well your blood to be exact” she says with relish
This shocks me if Ms Morgan is sane and telling the truth I can't protect it, I don't know how. My burglar alarm doesn't even work so that's what I tell her.
“By living inside of it you are protecting it, you haven't noticed it but you've left all of the original furniture and ornaments in the same place. Take the grandfather clock, it doesn't work but you keep it there in the same spot still don't you.”
“Yes but it goes off sometimes” I find myself defending it, I'm quite fond of that clock
“Really? When?” she asks looking genuinely surprised
“Well at night it wakes me up sometimes”
“It wakes you up?”
“Yeah”
“at a certain time?”
“I don't know if its at a specification time”
“are you dreaming when it wakes you?”
“Erm thinking about it I guess the dreams I'm having when it wakes me up are a bit weird.” She gets up and walks to the grandfather clock searching all over it until she finds what she's looking for. “Oh my goody gosh” she turns to looks at me, her mouth is half hanging open
“what?”
“you're under the protection of the five skulls”
“The what?”
“The five skulls?”
“I heard but I don't understand”
“You have your whole life to lean. Its not so urgent” she brushes it off but I can tell she's excited by this bit of information she's discovered.
She gets up to walk out but stops and peers into my empty tea cup. She smiles “well that's interesting”
Then she goes to the cupboard and puts some cat food out.
“Now they cant say I never do anything for them” she mumbles and leaves.
I'm just sitting there totally thrown, by Ms Morgan the lady who speaks in riddles. I get up to get ready to meet the girls when I notice the pendulum has started swinging for the first time ever since I can remember. I stare at it for a moment then I ignore it. Ms Morgan probably just figured out how to wind the clock or something. Something's been nagging me as I walk
into the new Italian place, then it clicks. I don't have a cat. © 2013 LittleMancunianAuthor's Note
