Winter Snowflakes' Dance

Winter Snowflakes' Dance

A Poem by Tim
"

"A snow day literally and figuratively falls from the sky, unbidden, and seems like a thing of wonder." - Susan Orlean

"

Look down:

In a blanket of untouched snow, there is true purity

Look up:

Descending from a sky of abysmal night

The snowflakes perform their dance for those

Who are awake to see it

Twirling, pirouetting, a sudden halt & then again

Like tiny fairies, blown about in ephemeral gusts

Gusts like spirits manifesting into form

Clouds of snow blown about, ever-shifting

Momentarily alive but then formless

You must stand and witness

This moment of natural beauty

A phenomenon as common as birdsong or spring rains

But few will decide to stand in awe

At the dance of the winter snowflakes
