A Gift From The HeavensA Poem by TimJust beyond a mystical village, a puzzling tribute descends from the skies. The Oracle Bones murmured of her arrival During their casting down into the temple courtyard With a spiral of flame amongst drum-heartbeats did none listen。 The fibers of thatched roofs In a wintertime morn Anxious quails decamped the canopy As the firmament began to bleed the tones of esoteric The heavens delivered its offspring Into the hinterlands, where hydrae festered in biting mud Attention, unrest, resentment, cowering The Sage endeavored to examine what the constellations had mothered Fervent prayers lighted & smoked the temple Across the artless creek He did trek through fae forests Did hear them susurrate from thorny hedge And at the lips of the bluff entranced in cerulean glow A babe of lotus petals Of night's spontaneity The child of a-once-adolescent Luna & Sol Clayed into anthropomorphic body & sifted in gold The Sage did appeal to the presently unmoving azure heavens With his doves of thanksgiving & commoner's faith Back to the village roads the duo retreated Amidst the blossoming evening shadows Of beasts emaciated for the gods' daughter Beasts issued not from Above but from The Below © 2017 Tim |
