My mental illness may have started 3 years ago, and I may have been in recovery, but I sense that the end of recovery is far away from now.
The professionals sense
I’m blooming,
Speaking of wings I’m growing .
I envision obstacles that they do not.
They may think that my journey is near its end,
But I suspect that this journey is only at its beginning,
That I will fall harder than ever before,
That I will be pushed to the edge,
That I will end up hospitalized,
Or even close to death.
Phew.. I hope not sweetie.. I have read a couple of your poems so far and you have something to say i think.. Your bio says you are not sure what sparked your interest.. Do you lie away at night thinking in metaphors and rhyme? Difficult to sleep when you feel like you need the rest? Consider that perhaps poetry chose you.. Some poets are born with that gift and it often takes years for them to realize it. I will read more.. thank you. shallimarRose

I don't hope for those things either, it's just that situations sometimes seem like they could be heading in that direction. I feel like my brain thinks in metaphors all the time and sometimes I rhyme without even trying, although I actually don't like to rhyme when writing poetry. I am a night owl, yes I do stay up even when I know I need sleep, but at the same time I want to be up doing something. Maybe you are right about poetry choosing me. :)

You reviewed a poem of mine, called The Headphones, 4 months ago. I just now got the email and saw it and went to check out your poetry. We seem to be of similar style and minds. I wonder if you still use this site. I hope you do, because I can so relate to this poem. I've fallen when I was trying to stay strong and had doctors say in an almost disappointed way, "but you seemed to be doing well." Yeah well mental health isn't exactly science; you cannot predict depression or recovery from it. Its fluid, floats in the air around you. But you're not alone. I think if you read more of my poems or - better yet - talk to me, you'll find we probably lead similar lives.
Wonderful poem, and this is just the first one I read.

I hope you get it back. Writing is a beautiful thing to have an interest in.
I am thirty years old. I'm dealing with a mood disorder/depression, anxiety, an eating disorder, borderline personality disorder, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. I love writing. and most of my works.. more..
