Ghostly hands.

Ghostly hands.

A Poem by Pixieblue
"

A question i ask myself daily.

"

Look at your hand,

how many have held this and felt your touch.

How many lost wandering souls were guided by the simpleness of your skin,

do you know?

Would you ever take time out of your life to count...

Can you remember them all,

or are their names lost in the earth like the rain,

that washes their history away.

How many finger prints?

Where are they now and how many hands have they held?

What about that one person that only ever wants to be guided by your hand,

are they already holding it.

Or is the hand that you are both holding,

the hand that you will hurt?

While looking for the hand,

that is looking for yours?

I like how you've used one of the most basic human extremities to forge a connection between people and how that is mediated by our hands. Wonderful poem. My only advice or opinion is that when I was reading it out loud I found that you could break up your lines a bit for (to me) effective dramatic pauses.

It seems very gentle. Fav line.

Can you remember them all,

or are their names lost in the earth like the rain,

that washes their history away.
