Hannah

Hannah

A Poem by Little Birdie
"

I wish I wouldn't have to do all the bidding.

"
I wish I wouldn't have to do
all the bidding. Probing your
will to live and “Hannah, be brave.“
“Hannah, keep going.“

You're no child. Keep safe
and be patient.
I amn't perfect and, Hannah,
I'm not what you're looking for.

Don't expect everyone else
is wrong, Hannah. Don't expect
me to be your star of Bethlehem,
nor an eight world wonder.

I'm mortal myself, Hannah. So when you
lean on me for support plagued by
your own mistakes, don't expect anything
but hollow, empty words.

Love it Little Birdie :) Very sincere and some good use of imagery here... we've all felt the heaviness of suffering others... and felt helpless ourselves.... Liked it a lot, well done1

I found Hannah in every stanza, and she was kinda cute! I'm darn curious about the story behind this as you can well imagine.

This is just a detail, but the very name 'Hannah' brings such a breathy quality to the whole poem. I really like this poem for the sound of it, it's worth reading out loud and, as always, a great use of blank verse.
