Departure

Departure

A Poem by Little Birdie
"

Go on, I'll be fine on my own.

"

Before I depart, give me one more night.

Hold my hand and shake off my blue.

On this holy winter night, make me feel right,

As if everything around me isn't true.

Take me down the Thames Street,

We pass by the park, bright lights dancing, so entwined.

The heavy air rings home, brisk and sweet,

Toying with my scared mind.

Go on, I'll be fine on my own.

My heart will lead me to West End,

Where my memories sleep quietly, where I've grown,

A place I'll give my life to defend.

Say goodbye before I leave,

Forget the past, myself despite.

Force the heart to believe

I'll return alive, some other night.

So rhymatic and so wonderful, Such a profound write and enjoyable to read!

Great ! - like the classic ABAB rhyme structure as well as the universality of the
content , a poem then with a lot of truth that immediatly speaks to the
reader. Keep up the good work.

*snap *snap, I feel it

There is a beautiful, melancholy written here. It is as if you were being lead by the ghost of a past relationship that you are finally releasing to the night wind. Very nicely written poet, my pleasure to read and enjoy.
