DepartureA Poem by Little BirdieGo on, I'll be fine on my own. Before I depart, give me one more night. Hold my hand and shake off my blue. On this holy winter night, make me feel right, As if everything around me isn't true.
Take me down the Thames Street, We pass by the park, bright lights dancing, so entwined. The heavy air rings home, brisk and sweet, Toying with my scared mind.
Go on, I'll be fine on my own. My heart will lead me to West End, Where my memories sleep quietly, where I've grown, A place I'll give my life to defend.
Say goodbye before I leave, Forget the past, myself despite. Force the heart to believe I'll return alive, some other night. © 2011 Little BirdieReviews
