Evening Sun
A Poem by
Little Birdie
Fingers deep in your soul.
I sat until bones became brittle. Pointed like a double-bladed knife. I sat and let the air consume me whole, melted into May until ivy blistered my ankles. I waited the most and no one told me it's not coming back. And I waited, and I sat blistered and brittle infected with defeat. Until teeth ripped through roots, nails disfigured the petals, And I moved. Fingers deep in your soul, in the hems of your dress, as you pulled me through until the evening sun found my face.

I really liked it. If I may offer a comment I found the beginning a bit halting? The middle was my favorite. "No one told me until defeat. The flow was awesome there. Excellent work!
