Midnight MasqueradeA Poem by Samantha Guerin
Midnight Masquerade Life is a dance Amongst a sea of never-ending faces. When the music plays we are gay, Dancing, even singing But when the music stops, So do we. We become melancholy, Damper. Some dancers are optimists, Hoping for the music to return, To cradle us and to submerge us In our happy times. Yes, life is a dance, A ball. We are always twirling, Switching partners, Pursuing passion. Some dancers wear masks, Hiding their faces, Others wear feathers in their curls, Drawing attention like only a peacock could. Some with partners, Others solo, We are all alike For everyone is dancing. Moving rhythmatically in every direction. That is, Until the music stops. © 2009 Samantha GuerinReviews
