Empty Values

Empty Values

A Poem by Natalie Sabillon
"

It's the process of getting over someone who isn't at all like how they were before - it's based off of a book.

"
Those thousand dollar breaths
Those million dollar kisses,
and those 5 cent misses.

You know that feeling when something gets caught in your throat and everything
every word
sound
comes out wrong?

You know that feeling when you feel like screaming, but in a second
it's gone?
What if I pressed you up against a corner with soft turns,
told you calmly,
sincerely
how I felt, and glossed over the terms?

Those thousand dollar breaths
million dollar kisses
would mean nothing
nothing.

Instead I mentally shake you
hate you
try so hard to forget you
shaking away
rainy nights
your arms
the folds
the way your lips
when touching mine
would put me in a different world

But.  But,
I understand that you're just a ghost.
I see you now, and I see nothing of the old
Thousand dollar breathes that have lost their worth.

Brown eyes.
empty.
cold.

So you know that choked up feeling;
the back of your throat?
Like waves
the feeling,
that comes
and then it goes?

I coughed.
It didn't bother me anymore.

The last three stanzas bring it all together wonderfully. The last two lines have great attitude and truth. Lovely job

I used to love talking about myself, and it's gotten to the point where I think it's pointless. I'm impossible. I don't stay the same. I'm pessimistic and optimistic at the same time. I can be reall.. more..
