It's Not Breakfast and Not Lunch So Why Should I Eat Brunch?A Story by Lissette TerzoIt's Not Breakfast and Not Lunch So Why Should I Eat Brunch?Who doesn't love brunch in all its iterations? It is not breakfast and it is not lunch, but if you travel across the United States in any direction, you will find cultural traditions for mid morning fine dining in so many variations you can make a lifetime study of it. And if you travel around the world, you can increase your research on gourmet food and literally write a book on the wonders of the late morning meal or the traditional Sunday brunch. There are great reasons for going to brunch, and if you haven't lately, now's the time to treat the whole family. Here are some of the benefits of thinking "brunch" for those occasions when you need to sit back and relax: Indulgence is in Order Anytime you Can Indulge A combination of a late breakfast and an early lunch, or brunch, is supposedly meant to be a stand-in for either meal. So, since brunch means folks know they will skip breakfast and/or lunch, most people relax and indulge. Why not? You had a hard workweek. You are travelling and want to experience taste sensations. It's a Mother's Day brunch, or a wedding, a shower, or a graduation celebration. The goal is to enjoy the magnificent spreads that can be found around the world and brunch is a great way to sample all sorts of tasty treats. Think of brunch as an adventure in exploration and the chance to relish change and pamper yourself almost to the point of decadence. Sleeping In is the Ultimate Reward Although brunch is commonly thought of as a casual affair, there are still some loose rules and regulations. Typically, a meal is not really considered brunch if it is started before 10AM because then it would be considered breakfast. The meal is therefore served around 11AM - close to lunch time, but not so close that it could be thought of as lunch. If this makes no sense at first blush, think of Sundays and holidays when you really don't want to get out of bed too early to start your day. Brunch on these occasions offers a great reason to sleep late or "in", arise at leisure, and then dine well at a late meal that will make you feel too full to eat lunch! Eating Out is the Second Ultimate Reward The rules and regulations governing brunch presentations do not exclude do-it-yourselfers who relish the idea of putting out a massive spread for friends and family. However, if you hate cooking, preparations, cleaning the house and setting a lovely table, and then having to clean up the whole mess, and you really do prefer to savor a day without hard labor, plan to eat brunch OUT. Enjoy Great Tastes and Varieties at a Bountiful Buffet You will find brunch served buffet style in many places offering familiar breakfast foods like eggs sausage, bacon, ham, fruits, pastries, and pancakes that go beyond the average tastes to include quiche, sea foods, meats, or poultry dishes, along with varieties of, salads, breads and desserts. The brunch buffet can get even more bountiful and often features exotic dishes from exotic places. There is a brunch menu for every taste and preference.
