A Familiar Cry

A Familiar Cry

A Poem by Lisette

Tonight I lay fast asleep...

I awaken to the sound of sobs..

all to familiar to me...

all to deep.

A women wailing,

her cries bring back tragic memories, mistakes, and anger,

...not yet behind me.

I cannot fall back asleep.

Open wounds sit festering.

I identify tragically.

What makes men tread..

leave there mark,

and then abandon thoughtlessly.
