We Live For TodayA Poem by Color of the Iris
All this time who was I to think I could ever be someone to you
Hopelessly believing in this broken spirit of mine to love you And as we all come down from our throne of conceit in the clouds I find it easy to understand what I knew wasn't you We wait and watch as we feel ourselves become suffocated by our halos Time finds it easier to mingle with our thoughtless minds Broken and un-wanted I believed in this worthless feeling I felt for you But now my still-born heart can't believe anything anymore Deformed and lifeless we walk the streets of deceitful temptations Winds of summer heat remind us we are still alive and going nowhere But nowhere is somewhere to someone who is really no one So why are we so afraid of what is really our home? But we keep walking and waiting for something in us to change Hoping for a miracle to spare a thought our way Like the dawn of yesterday is the dusk of tomorrow But in the search of the human race, we still live for today
