The Labrynth

The Labrynth

A Poem by Color of the Iris

Walls of self-indulgence surround you like serpents of never ending temptation

Ever dying idolsistic statues peek out of every corner as a lethal eye forever on you

Grey, cracking vines emerge slowly from the underbrush with an idea to stop you

Gravity suddenly falls harder upon you, and pinned to the ground, you beg for a breath

Struggle against it all to find your own way forwards in this labyrinth of pain and misery
Fight against the absolute terror that consumes you as you lay in the darkened halls
Killing your demons and dancing with joy a savage part of you yearns to kill something
Blue veins stand out against your skin, mottled with exertion and fear, beg for some help

And as your nightmare becomes your reality, your mind begins to waste away

Tormenting memories of lies and betrayal steal your face as you wander father in

Shadows from your past dare to linger close, causing you to shiver with paranoia

And it will be before the night falls that you should go blind with fear

Pain wraps itself around you, it's dark tendrils pulling you tight to it's cold body
Sheer, unscalable walls tower high above your head, blotting out the weak sun
Shivers rack your body and tear at your soul, sobs resound inside your mind
You cannot escape this labyrinth of life's pains and loves, like the thorns on roses

Anger takes the form of past lovers only to drive you insane inside out

Acid rain begins to leak from Heaven above, and it claws at your skin as you push on

The wind's translucent body rushes against you, but dares you to go farther

Your heart begins to react to the feeling of possible death wandering nearer

Dragging razors through your skin, scarring your own name into your body
Names and faces remain inside your mind and cause you no end of pain
Causing you to lose your sanity, images and memories replay over and over
Wars rage inside your mind, sanity against insanity, yin and yang, it's a war zone

And as you forget your purpose on this worthless planet, you fall to your knees

To the mercy of the dawn you bow, and you feel the sunlight once more before your eyes close

Tears slowly emerge from your eyes once you see the end to the labrynth

And you finally feel the emotion of happiness overwhelm you once last time before your soul passes away.

Adore it, the images are vivid and alive with colour and breathe dragging the harrowing sorrow and emotion behind them and flinging them down in front of the reader to view, through the labyrinth of sorrow we can learn to breathe deeply the reward of light and freedom, in an acceptance of wandering journeys we feel the weight of death pass and as the terror washes away the scars on our soul we can bear to glance upon the scars left on our surface, a rhythm lumbers throughout the words allowing them to flow and merge and outline the story of the harrowing pain of ethereal beauty, wonderfully written.
