The Sacrifice

The Sacrifice

A Poem by Color of the Iris

My body, helpless, laying on the floor useless

Leaking crimson lies your truth stabbed into me

And as the dawn begins to break in

You happen to fear what you’ve done

The blood of an innocent life under the skin of your hands

(Chorus)

You killed me to break free

And get back at everything

You used me and hated me

But now I stand over you

And I’m watching you cry

My spirit will haunt you

Now that I’ve been sacrificed

Paranoid, you dare look over your shoulder

The mirror tells you “you’re about to go insane”

Rocking back and forth on the floor

You jump to find me trapped in the glass

My face laughing at you from this forever broken mirror

(Chorus)

Honey, please don’t cry

Revenge is really sweet

But you said, “f**k you and your life!

Guess you know you can’t to trust me

(Chorus 2xs)

The beginning is brutal!

It's really emotional though, and a lot of violent imagery. This totally just screams out to me like an ultimate release. Love that. That's the whole point of writing!
