The sweat dots his ebony back like the stars scattered in the sky
All scars and marks on his face symbolize the battles of a warrior
The innocence in his brown eyes burns with a flame from within
His ears straight forward as his attention is suddenly stolen
The voice in his head tells him to release the power in his legs
And he soars across the land in search of the source out of place
Racing the wind, his ears held in the air and his heart in the ground
His hooves keeping a perfect tempo with the earth's pulsing heart
His nostrils burn with the smell of life, dying and beginning again
He knows that he will not meet his demise until his purpose is over His quest will be long, and hard to endure but he knows he will not fail It is his purpose to protect the weak, aid the strong and listen to all
His huge heart beats with the equal immensity thrum of thunder As his great lungs swell and then fall with the breath of the wind And as night falls, he slowly becomes invisible in the night alone
The next rising sun, a faithful mother gives birth to her first And as her soft brown eyes watch her baby boy stand for the first Her heart grows, for she knows who their new leader will soon be
Holy freaking shicrapplez. *dies* That was amazing!! I flipping love horses - they're so beautiful and powerful and majestic and all the stuff you said in your a/n and what maddie said below. Lovelovelove this poem! It flowed and the word choice was to die for. The imagery almost killed me, and it was about horses so yeah.. Congrats on almost killng me. :D ...anywhooo, I freaking LOVE this poem!! :D
"the source out of place"
What a wonderful concept that the source of a thing is really out of place now!
I can't help but be wowed by this piece! The fierceness of your writing leaps off the page and attacks the reader. If I may suggest something though... perhaps the 4th stanza is unnecessary? It's like you build up the momentum as the horse builds up his, and in the 4th stanza the momentum suddenly breaks... I dunno, just a suggestion! :) Overall still my favorite piece of yours!!!! This was truly strong and exotic. Wonderful work!
