The ThoughtlessA Poem by Color of the IrisIs it so hard to spare a thought? All so difficult to think of others before you Taking the time to come first But you leave the trash for all who come last Your words are merely attempts to be heard Speaking when not spoken to You judgment is clouded for you after all And now you try to decree us (Chorus) Your lies of a world hidden so far away Rules we must follow of a democratic failure Throwing your cards down because you can’t play Can’t you see we’re all so tired of your erratic rants? Step down, and from your thrown you shall step away Look at this chaos you’ve brought Becoming too difficult for your limits of control? You can’t harness a power that’s not yours So leave us alone because we were made to last Turns out the serpent was not all that tempted Eve You speak his unworthy tongue And now you shall be judged yourself before all upstairs Because you have used your time up (Chorus) There have been times when our leaders were wise But now, it’s shaming to see how far we’ve fallen It’ll be hard to climb back up this weak wall you’ve built And no one will help you now (Chorus) © 2011 Color of the IrisAuthor's Note
