Forgive Me, For I've Forsaken You

Forgive Me, For I've Forsaken You

A Poem by Color of the Iris

My only strength lies in you
I kneel before you alone
Offering all that I am
On the alter before you

I have forsaken you so many times
I can only feel guilty
That I've left you behind
You're my one and only

I lace my fingers through yours
And walk silently beside you
Not a word, I shall speak
But I know you can hear me

You've always been there for me
Not once have you left
My dear King...
Take me to your kingdom

And as we slowly walk away
Many watched in awe
Hoping that soon one day
They too would be gone

Dear Lord,

I am ashamed for how I have forsaken you. Please forgive all that I am. I am afraid I've lost my voice, but I hope you can still hear me. You are my only foundation, in which I need to survive, and without you... there's nothing. I thank you for helping me this far in what Your once beautiful, innocent world is becoming. So many pains drag us further down, but it's all a test to see if we can rise again. I hope some day I can walk with you through Heaven's gates... but until then...
