The Labrynth of Shadows - A Home of Hell

The Labrynth of Shadows - A Home of Hell

A Poem by Color of the Iris

As the dawn drifts from us
It leaves a world of darkness
To blanket us with shadows
In which there is no escape
Our only hope is to see the light
In spite of our fear for the night
They have called this place forsaken
But the demon has not been wakened
And it is no more that we know what to fear
Years we've spent searching
A way to escape this dark, vacant prison
That some day we might hear the sun sing
But as the shadows course around us
We know there's no sense in believing
We're going to be set free someday
After a while, the dark takes it's tole
You care for nothing no more
All you wish is to be left alone
And soon your dreams hit the floor
Voices whisper things of dark joy in your ear
You see apparitions of things you once knew
As torture, you sit through all of this
And it warps your mind
You begin to believe that it's going to be alright
You can't fear anything anymore
As the darkness holds you, and lulls you to sleep
You close your eyes, and swear you hear the sun sing

this is the second poem of yours i have read and i am absolutely in love! you posses a great talent... the words you have put together are beautiful and full of emotion...dark and wild and beautiful! you gather the imagery in your words so wonderfully i could read them all day and not be board!!!

now onto the review...this poem is magnificantly dark!
i like how it starts with the sun going backwards, having the dawn drifting backwards to cover the speaker with shadows. i felt this poem to be about hope and the great stuggle to keep it alight! and that even as it starts to fade, the faint hint of the sun comes to rescue the speaker! very beautiful!!!

I love the feeling and mood.

Good write. Feelings of fear and being alone are overpowering here and then you take the reader to that place of acceptance in the end. Very good write.
