Statues ~

Statues ~

A Poem by Color of the Iris

Statues frozen in time

So broken after all

Never once noticed

Even as their tears fall

Dark angel with splinters in your wings

And stitches on your heart

Won’t you teach me how to fly away from here?

My sweet lover from eighteen centuries ago

And a past to follow

Won’t you help me remember how to forget again?

Statues frozen in time

Tears fall through

The cracks on her face

As she falls deep into sleep

Dark angel with oh-so fragile wings

And scars on your soul

Lapse away into another world and run away

My innocent life from a lifetime ago

Without a soul

Won’t you hurt me so I can love you again?

Just keep dreaming

Even if everything you see isn’t real

They can’t take you away

And keep believing

Even if everything you dream of is empty

They can’t have you anyway

Author's Note

Color of the Iris
Haven't we all felt like one of those mourning angel statues? Forever locked in place... with no one to love them.

Forever locked...umm no, not really :)

"Dark angel with splinters in your wings" The idea is unique.
Overall not up to your usual standards. From anyone else great. From you...no way u're losing your touch :)
