Black Coffee & Cigarettes

Black Coffee & Cigarettes

A Poem by Lisaa-Mariee

Intertwined floors and ceilings,

whispering mangled silhouettes.

Trying to numb out all the feelings,

with black coffee and cigarettes.

A bitter sweet paralleled affair,

a dark twisted fork in the road.

Trapped between a lion and bear.

acid claws make my blood corrode.

An ash tray can’t hold my sanity,

monsters still live under my bed.

Listening in on the silence and profanity,

Words not mispronounced just misread.

Self-mutilated hopes and dreams,

upturned perfection turns a blind eye to me.

A mess of unfulfilled blood shot screams,

all silenced by the way things should be.

Until the pain and suffering goes away

pass me a lighter and don’t intervene.

Leave my world in this off-white cliche.

I’m numbing myself with smoke and caffeine.
