C**k-Eyed AmericaA Poem by lisalureeI love to add poetry to my art. This piece was inspired by our new tenacious mastiff. Please take a moment to check out the painting!
There once was a pup with American pride
He chased all his dreams, he pushed and he tried Busy and thoughtful and careful and cool A model American, nobody's fool Along came a c**k with thoughts of his own He raised all the taxes and sat on his throne He took what pup worked for demanding much more He gilded his nest with a claim for the poor The pup he kept trying not wont to complain He tried to save bones but soon it was plain All that he worked for, struggled and fought Found way to the coop, his trying for naught Pup gave a cry as he sharpened his claws He snapped his mouth shut and clapped his big paws He'd done what he could; he'd done his fair best His bones were all heaped in Mr. C**k's nest It didn't take much to snap a fine neck With one wicked blow it all went to heck Feathers flew this way, beaks flew asunder Chomping was heard like claps of loud thunder When it was over the pup looked around Gobbets of gore were all that was found The nests were destroyed, the chickens were dead "There's nothing to do but start over!" pup said © 2012 lisaluree |
